I have a confession to make. I am addicted to the feel of fibre under my fingers, and sewing is my favourite way to experience that feeling. It's a joy to have two granddaughters who love to wear the fun clothes I make. My fingers are happy to sew with the excellent quality of fabric that Michelle and Colin carry at l'oiseau!
This outfit came together very quickly, and the appliqué was easy, and perfectly co-ordinated with the main fabric, because it's printed on one edge of the width of fabric. The fabric is very wide and I was able to cut both front and back in one width even though the top is flared.
Don't get intimidated by the thought of appliquéing jersey! Just pretend you are cutting out paper dolls and be extra careful at the corners with your pointy scissors. If you mess up the first one, there are many more! I used Lite Steam- a-seam 2 ( double sided fusible) on the back of the appliqué so I could position it where I want and keep it in place while I stitched around the edge. Simple zig-zag does it for me when I stitch around the edge cause I have trouble with the double needle on my machine.
The fabric for leggings is from the same line and sewed up quickly- and looks so cute with the top. Best of all, my granddaughter loves it!
